Create to demystify

Kids today grow up with Alexas, Siris and Google Homes. Since these devices seemingly have all the answers imaginable, many kids assume they must be smarter than they are. By teaching kids to code, to explore the mechanisms and manipulate the data inputs, we can demystify technology and empower kids to become critical and active creators instead of passive consumers.

Of course, this doesn’t mean every child needs to become a programmer, but being able to understand the core concepts of programming will become significantly more important in a future where we surround ourselves even more with technology – and where technology will become even more advanced and seamless.

Learning Goals for the AI Game

  • Establishing a first understanding of what is meant by Artificial Intelligence

  • Creating an awareness for the use cases and subfields of Artificial Intelligence

  • Building sensitivity for both, benefits and risks of AI

  • Removing fear of complexity and superiority of technology

  • Sparking interest in exploring and questioning technology further

  • Creating an understanding for the limits of current technology

  • Introducing learning about AI in a safe space and playful environment

Technology to empower

Technology can affect behavioral change – for the good or the bad. Social media and communication channels like Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok change the way we speak and communicate – even offline. Services such as Google Maps Uber or Spotify, radically change how we consume and navigate our everyday life. Devices such as smartphones and tablets, that always need to be charged and connected, change the way we work, learn and play.

When designed well, and with the right intentions, technology can be a tool to empower kids of all ages. Through technology we can create new ways for kids to learn while having fun, allowing them to create, explore and stay connected with others. Additionally, kids who know how to use technologies as a tool are better prepared for a workforce which is already driven by digital technologies.
